Viking Vietnam Ltd. continued its growth journey in 2025 by relocating to a new and larger production facility in Binh My Commune, Ho Chi Minh City. The move marked yet another important investment in the future, providing increased capacity and a stronger foundation for continued development.
Viking Rubber Co. entered a new chapter in 2023, when Jan Albeck Hansen was appointed CEO as the first non-family member to lead the company. Alexander Mygind Andersen, representing the third generation of family leadership, continued his role within the company, retaining ownership and focusing on production and product development, continuing Viking’s heritage, expertise, and commitment to quality.
Viking Rubber Co. entered its third generation of family leadership in 2021, as Alexander Mygind Andersen became majority owner. With Kurt M. Andersen continuing as Chairman of the Board, the transition ensured a strong connection between Viking’s legacy, experience, and future ambitions.
Viking Vietnam Ltd. strengthened its commitment to integrity by achieving ISO 14001 certification. This milestone marked an important step in reducing the factory’s environmental impact and establishing a structured approach to more sustainable operations for the future.
From the beginning, Viking Vietnam Ltd. was built on integrity and the belief that responsible production and good working conditions go hand in hand. In 2013, the factory achieved SA 8000 certification, recognizing Viking’s commitment to safe working conditions and responsible production in Vietnam.
Quality has always been at the heart of Viking Rubber Co. In 2010, Viking Vietnam Ltd. achieved ISO 9001 certification, formalizing the structured quality standards and processes that have guided the company since its foundation. The certification reinforced Viking’s commitment to delivering consistent quality.
Just two years after the previous expansion, Viking Vietnam Ltd. once again needed to increase its production capacity due to rising demands. The facilities were expanded to 6,000 m², while the site also expanded its expertise by producing hunting and leisure clothing for other brands.
As demand continued to grow, Viking Vietnam Ltd. expanded into larger production facilities in 2006. The expansion strengthened Viking’s production capacity and ability to deliver high-quality outerwear solutions while supporting the company’s continued international growth.
Viking Rubber Co. took the next major step in its international journey by establishing its own production facility in Ho Chi Minh City under the name Viking Vietnam Ltd. With full control of the production process, Viking strengthened its ability to deliver consistently high-quality workwear while ensuring responsible working conditions and greater flexibility for customers worldwide.
Viking Rubber Co. began its first production activities in Vietnam, marking an important step in the company’s international expansion. To ensure the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship, Vietnamese colleagues were invited to Europe for training and knowledge sharing.
As market conditions changed, Viking Rubber Co. recognized the need to establish production outside of Europe while maintaining its commitment to quality and responsible working conditions. Vietnam was chosen due to its strong tradition within textile production and its skilled workforce. In doing so, Viking Rubber Co. became one of the first European companies to move its production to Vietnam - creating new opportunities for growth while staying true to its values of integrity, flexibility, and quality.
Viking Rubber Co. developed specialized safety workwear for Hamburg ports with HHLA and Eurogate, focusing on safety, function, and durability.
Production shifted to Poland in 1991, strengthening Viking Rubber Co.’s ability to serve key markets across Europe. When sales in Denmark slowed, Kurt looked beyond the domestic market and secured a 100-jacket order in Hamburg. This marked the beginning of a strong presence in Germany, which has since become Viking’s largest market.
Svend Aage Andersen handed the company over to his 23-year-old son, Kurt Mikael Andersen. Kurt expanded the business into breathable workwear products, leading the company into a new era of growth with a skilled team of around 40 employees.
Sailor and businessman Svend Aage Andersen discovered the rainwear factory in Faaborg and immediately saw its potential. Believing the company could become something much bigger, he purchased the business and took over its future.
Aage Holger became the sole owner of the company and moved production to Faaborg on Sydfyn, a region known for its strong fishing heritage. After his passing in 1972, the company was continued by widow Rasmussen and their son.
As demand increased, the original factory could no longer accommodate the company’s development, leading Viking Rubber Co. to relocate to Charlottenlund. The team expanded to 25 employees, further establishing Viking’s growing reputation for durable and reliable rain- and workwear.
Viking Rubber Co. was founded by brothers Aage Holger Rasmussen and Hans Frederik Ejnar Rasmussen in Asnæs Stationsby. Guided by the belief that “it will always rain, so proper rainwear is needed”, the two brothers set out to create highly durable rain- and workwear with a strong focus on quality.
